The Lagos State Police Command has received a delegation from the Police Officers’ Wives Association, POWA, Lagos State chapter, during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening support for policing efforts in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, hosted the POWA Chairperson, Oluwakemi Tijani, alongside other members of the association at the Command Headquarters in Lagos.
During the visit, the POWA Chairperson reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting the Command’s efforts to enhance security across the state.
She noted that the association remains dedicated to supporting police officers on the home front, a role she said contributes significantly to boosting morale and improving effectiveness in the discharge of their duties.
The engagement highlights the importance of collaboration between the police and support groups in strengthening security operations and promoting the welfare of officers in Lagos.
The Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Area Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with key industry players following a courtesy visit to International Breweries Plc in Ilesa, Osun State.
The visit, led by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Wale Moses Adewole, took place on April 14, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance compliance with excise regulations and boost revenue generation.

Fidelity Bank Plc has extended its “Give Her Power” initiative to Ogun State, empowering 100 women with vocational tools aimed at boosting economic independence and supporting small businesses.
The empowerment programme, held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, saw the distribution of 50 sewing machines and 50 grinding machines to women engaged in microbusinesses across the state.
The initiative forms part of the bank’s nationwide rollout of the “Give Her Power” programme, launched in March 2026 during activities marking International Women’s Day.
Speaking at the event, Regional Bank Head, Southwest 1, Fidelity Bank Plc, Folaranmi Jemirin, said the outreach reflects the institution’s commitment to practical and sustainable empowerment.
“At Fidelity Bank, our approach to empowerment is simple; it must be practical, inclusive, and sustainable. When you empower a woman economically, the benefits extend to her family, her business, and the wider community,” he said.
Jemirin explained that the initiative is anchored on the bank’s women-focused platform, HerFidelity, which provides financial literacy, business support, mentorship, and vocational training for women-led enterprises.
He added that the bank has scaled its interventions nationwide, including the distribution of over 1,000 vocational tools, rollout of apprenticeship programmes, and financial literacy sessions for young girls.

Speaking at the event, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, said the Service is committed to leveraging emerging technologies to strengthen accountability in public finance.

The Ogun State Police Command has issued a stern warning against unlawful assemblies and violent protests in Sagamu, following major breakthroughs recorded under its ongoing security initiative, “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe.”
Speaking through the Police Public Relations Officer at a press briefing held at the Sagamu Divisional Headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, said the Command would not tolerate any actions capable of disrupting public peace and order.
He stressed that while citizens have the right to express grievances, such actions must remain within the bounds of the law, warning that attempts to block roads, attack public institutions, or resort to violence would attract the full weight of the law.
The warning follows an incident on April 7, 2026, when a group of commercial motorcycle operators staged a protest and blocked the Oba Erinwole GRA Road in Sagamu, disrupting movement and public activities.
Police operatives were deployed to disperse the gathering, but the situation escalated as the protesters moved to the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) and TRACE Office in the Sotubo area, before further disrupting services at the Sotubo Health Centre.
In response, the Command launched intensified intelligence-led operations, leading to the arrest of 10 principal suspects linked to the disturbance. The suspects have since been charged to court, while further intelligence from the arrests guided subsequent enforcement actions.
The police also confirmed that a coordinated raid conducted on April 13 by the Sagamu Area Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, led to the arrest of 146 additional suspects across identified criminal flashpoints in the area.
The joint operation involved the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
According to the Command, all suspects are currently undergoing screening, with those found culpable to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation and prosecution.
Ojajuni reiterated that security agencies remain fully prepared to deal decisively with criminal elements, assuring residents that there would be no hiding place for individuals intent on undermining peace in Sagamu and its environs.
He also commended the support of the Sagamu Local Government, traditional rulers, and collaborating security agencies, noting that sustained cooperation remains critical to maintaining safety.

The operation, led by the Sagamu Area Command, was carried out in the early hours of April 13, 2026, following intelligence reports identifying key flashpoints where criminal activities were suspected to be on the rise.
Police said the exercise was part of proactive measures to prevent any breakdown of law and order, and was executed in collaboration with other security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
The Command noted that the operation was preceded by strategic engagements with traditional rulers, the Sagamu Local Government Council, and heads of security agencies to strengthen collaboration and intelligence sharing.
According to the police, all suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities. Those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the synergy and professionalism displayed by the participating agencies, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing.

The Murtala Muhammed Foundation, MMF has raised fresh concerns over the fate of the remaining Chibok schoolgirls, warning that the tragedy has become a symbol of neglect and declining global urgency more than a decade after the incident.
Marking 12 years since the abduction, the Foundation said 89 of the 276 girls kidnapped on April 14, 2014, in Chibok remain unaccounted for, with no confirmed recovery recorded in the past year.
In a statement, the Chief Executive Officer of MMF, Aisha Muhammed Oyebode, described the situation as a reflection of failed accountability and waning commitment.
“Chibok has become more than a place or a moment in time,” she said. “It is now a metaphor for neglect—of responsibility, of accountability, and of our collective empathy for those who continue to live with the consequences of this tragedy.”
According to the Foundation, 187 of the abducted girls have either escaped or been released over the years, while more than 40 children were born in captivity and returned with their mothers—highlighting the long-term human cost of the crisis.
The group noted that the Chibok abduction, once a focal point of global outrage and advocacy, now reflects a broader failure to sustain attention and follow through on commitments.
“What Chibok exposed was not only a security failure, but a failure of sustained attention—the inability to begin and to finish, to respond and to follow through,” the statement added.
MMF also expressed concern over continued abductions of schoolchildren across Nigeria, warning that such incidents have deepened fears among families and undermined confidence in the safety of education, particularly for girls.
The Foundation called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to locate the remaining victims and ensure greater transparency and accountability in its response.
It further urged the United Nations and the international community to renew engagement and support coordinated actions aimed at protecting children and safeguarding education in conflict-affected areas.
MMF stressed that the long-term impact of the abduction extends beyond those still missing, affecting survivors, families, and entire communities, many of whom continue to grapple with trauma, disrupted education, and uncertain futures.
“Chibok must not be remembered only as a tragedy,” Oyebode said. “It must remain a call to action. Until every missing girl is accounted for, this responsibility remains unfinished.”
