The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for introducing strategic communication training aimed at strengthening professionalism, public engagement and service delivery within the Nigeria Police Force.
Ojajuni gave the commendation after successfully completing the Executive Training Programme for Commissioners of Police themed, “Enhancing Strategic Communication, Media Relations, Thought Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, Public Relations and Excellence in the Nigeria Police Force.”
The programme was coordinated by the Department of Training and Development under the leadership of Deputy Inspector-General of Police Isyaku Mohammed, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Public Relations School led by retired Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ojukwu. It concluded with the induction of participants into the Institute of Conflict Management and Negotiation Analysts (ICMNA).
Speaking after the training, CP Ojajuni described the initiative as a strategic investment in leadership development and institutional excellence, expressing appreciation to IGP Disu for prioritising capacity building for senior police officers.
He said the training aligns with the Inspector-General’s vision of building a more professional, people-oriented and strategically communicative Nigeria Police Force.
“We need to actually tell our stories, communicate effectively, and make sure Nigerians actually believe whatever the Police are saying, because our primary duty is to serve them with the utmost efficiency, and our service delivery must be excellent,” Ojajuni said.
He noted that effective communication and improved media relations are essential to strengthening public confidence in the police and enhancing the Force’s relationship with citizens.
The training forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to equip senior officers with leadership, communication and public relations skills needed to improve service delivery and reinforce public trust.
