The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, has led the Command’s Peace Walk to commemorate International Youth Day 2026 and launch its Campaign Against Political and Digital Thuggery.
The Peace Walk, held in line with the theme of this year’s International Youth Day, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” is part of efforts to strengthen police-community partnerships and engage young people as key partners in promoting peace, security and national development.
The initiative also aligns with the vision and directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, to deepen engagement with young Nigerians and promote responsible participation in society.
The walk brought together strategic collaborators and youth stakeholders, including representatives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) and National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).
The participants used the occasion to sensitise young people on the dangers of political and digital thuggery, drug abuse, cultism and hooliganism, while encouraging peace, responsible citizenship and positive youth engagement.
