Ogun Police, Abeokuta Partner on Campus Security, Youth Crime Prevention

The Ogun State Police Command and the Federal College of Education, FCE, Abeokuta, have pledged to strengthen collaboration on campus security, crime prevention and youth development.

The partnership was reaffirmed on Tuesday, October 13, when the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, received the college’s 7th Provost, Dr Joseph Bankole Filani, and members of his management team during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Ojajuni said educating young people to become responsible, law-abiding and self-reliant citizens was a strategic investment in crime prevention and sustainable public safety.

He highlighted the role of educators in shaping values and responsible citizenship, adding that the command had sustained public enlightenment and sensitisation activities at the institution through the Police Public Relations Department and the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV).

The commissioner said the command would deepen its engagement with the college to improve security awareness among students and sustain a safe learning environment.

Filani highlighted the institution’s transition into a degree-awarding college and its focus on entrepreneurship and practical skills to prepare students for self-reliance.

He commended the police command for the prevailing peace and security in Ogun State and pledged the college’s continued cooperation.

The meeting brought together members of the police command’s management team and focused on institutional collaboration in community policing, educational development and public safety.
