UNILAG Announces Extension Of 2024/2025 Post-UTME Online Application, Issues Instructions for Candidates

The University of Lagos UNILAG, says its 2024/2025 Post-UTME application, which was earlier scheduled to hold from Monday, August 5, 2024 to Friday, August 23, 2024 has been  extended by one week.

In a notice by the university’s Communications Unit, the application will now close on Friday, August 30, 2024. The procedure and fees for registration, as well as the dates for the conduct of the examination (2nd to 6th September, 2024) however, remain unchanged.

All eligible candidates who are yet to register are advised to utilise this extended period to perfect their registration.


Post-UTME Instructions


Ahead of the scheduled Post-UTME Aptitude Test, all candidates are advised to read and follow carefully, the instructions indicated below:


General Instructions


This is an on-line competitive qualifying aptitude test. Candidates are advised to have a reliable internet connection before attempting the on-line aptitude test.


Candidates’ activities during the period of the aptitude test will be monitored and recorded.  Candidates must comport themselves accordingly and will be required to attempt the test with a web-cam and microphone enabled device. (Use of mobile phones for the aptitude test is not supported).


Candidates are forbidden from covering their web-cams during the period of the aptitude test. Our inability to see the candidate at any time during the test may result in disqualification.


During the aptitude test, candidates are not permitted to leave their position. Please prepare adequately before commencing the test.


In the course of the aptitude test, candidates are not permitted to leave the test tab for another tab or application on the computer for any reason. Departure from the test tab may result in disqualification.


Nobody is permitted to be around a candidate during the period of the test, not even family members. Candidates may be disqualified if anybody is seen around them during the test.


The duration of the aptitude test is 30 minutes.  The time starts to count immediately candidates click the start button and continues to count even if you log out before your 30 minutes lapses.


Do not speak or read the questions out during the aptitude test.  This may result in disqualification.


In the event that a candidate runs out of time, the aptitude test will automatically be submitted.


Use of face mask, face cap, ear piece or head phone during the test is prohibited.


Candidates should note that they can ONLY LOG IN on their scheduled date and time.


To report any issues encountered before or during the examination, kindly use the “Make Complaints” button located on the test login page or the submission page. Please ensure that you exhaust all troubleshooting suggestions provided before submitting a complaint.


We recommend reporting any issues as soon as they occur to avoid delays in resolving them. You will receive updates via email or through the examination platform regarding the status of your complaint as soon as the issue is resolved.

Candidates are advised to report any challenge immediately


Directions to take examination


The examination can be accessed by either clicking the “Click Here To Take Exam” at the bottom of this email or by logging in via https://unilag.webtest.ng with your UTME number as username and surname in lowercase as password.

Both options will lead to our examinations instruction page where you would be required to follow the below steps:

Step 1: Install the examination browser (Not required for candidates who have previously installed the browser)

Step 2: Click the link to download your unique examination configuration

Step 3: Launch the configuration file to launch the examination, then click Enter to start

Optional Mock Examination


An optional mock examination has been scheduled to hold from Saturday, August 24, to Sunday, September 1, 2024.

This will afford candidates the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the examination platform ahead of time. They will install the examination browser and test same on their laptop or desktop computers ahead of the actual Post-UTME examination.

Candidates who choose to take advantage of the optional mock examination are expected to pay an administrative fee of N2,000 only.

Payment can be made by logging into the application portal and clicking the “Pay Online” button to pay online or by clicking the “Payment Advice” button to generate a bill containing RRR number for payment in any commercial bank in Nigeria

Candidates who pay for the mock examination would be scheduled through the link.

Candidates are strongly advised to avail themselves of this window of opportunity of the mock examination in order to:
(a) install the examination browser
(b) take the mock examination; and
(c) get some practice on the device they intend to use for the actual Post-UTME examination.

Please note:
The examination browser is only available on Windows 8.1 OS.

Odo Iya Alaro Bridge Maintenance: LASG Announces Completion of First Phase; Traffic Diversion For Second Phase Begins

The Lagos State Government has announced the successful completion of the first phase of the routine maintenance and rehabilitation of the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge in Kosofe Local Government Area. The project, a part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s ongoing infrastructure renewal efforts, has been completed ahead of schedule.

The update was shared by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engineer Olufemi Daramola, during an inspection visit to the bridge.

Accompanied by officials from the Office of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Transportation, Engr. Daramola highlighted that the rehabilitation was divided into two phases, focusing on the Ojota-bound and Yaba/Maryland-bound lanes.

“We are pleased to announce that the repair work on the inward Ojota carriageway has been completed ahead of time,” said Daramola. “We will commence work on the inward Maryland carriageway by the end of this week, ensuring that the project continues to progress efficiently.”

The maintenance work, which necessitated a 90-day traffic diversion starting on July 22, 2024, was prompted by the deteriorating condition of the bridge’s expansion joints and asphalt pavement. The first phase, originally planned for 45 days, was completed in just 30 days, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to expediting infrastructure repairs.

Daramola assured the public that the government is responsive to the challenges faced by road users, emphasizing that several other bridges across Lagos are also due for similar maintenance. “The Odo Iya Alaro Bridge was among those that required urgent attention,” he noted.



During the inspection, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa, outlined the alternative routes established to ease traffic during the second phase of the repairs. Motorists traveling to Ojota from Maryland/Yaba will be diverted to a contraflow on the lane inbound Maryland, while those heading to Yaba from Ojota will continue on the same lane.

He advised motorists to consider alternative routes:

**From Berger, Magodo, and Tollgate**: Use the Alapere/Ogudu route towards Gbagada/Anthony Oke Bridge, then descend the ramp to access Ikorodu Road.


**From Ikeja, Oregun, and Kudirat Abiola Way: Use the Opebi Link Bridge to connect to Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way inward Sheraton, then proceed through Maryland to access Ikorodu Road.


**From Jibowu: Use the Ikorodu Road service lane by Mobil Fuel Station/Bertola Engineering Equipment Company to access Gbagada/Ogudu.


**Heading to Ikeja, Magodo, Berger, and Lagos-Ibadan Expressway: Use Maryland inward Mobolaji Bank Anthony, then link Sheraton/Opebi to Allen Avenue/Obafemi Awolowo Way, and continue on Nurudeen Olowopopo Road. Alternatively, after using the Opebi Link Bridge, access Kudirat Abiola Way to reach Ikosi Road, then proceed to Mobolaji Johnson Avenue/7up to connect to Nurudeen Olowopopo Road.

The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, called on motorists to cooperate with the traffic management measures in place during the repairs. He assured the public that traffic personnel would be deployed to minimize inconvenience along the affected routes.

….. Heralds the Games with World Press Conference.

With almost 29 days to the 2024 Federation of African University Sports, FASU Games, the University of Lagos,UNILAG has expressed its readiness to deliver  to the world of collegiate sports, a different model of hosting the Games in collaboration with its sister institution, the Lagos State University, LASU.

The 11th edition of the Games tagged “Lagos 2024” and themed: “Unite, Compete and Excel” will be jointly hosted by two of Nigeria’s leading universities, UNILAG and LASU, the first time ever co-hosting of the Games since its inception in 1974.

Speaking at a world press conference, Vice Chancellor of UNILAG, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS explained that hosting the Games by both universities 

will also demonstrate a model of cooperation and collaboration between Federal and State Institution in Lagos. 

Professor Ogunsola noted that the Games will take place across several locations within the city of Lagos including the Akoka and Ojo Campuses of the two universities between Friday, September 20 and Sunday, September 29, 2024. She further said: “We are more than excited to be playing host alongside our sister university, LASU, to an even wider and international audience of over 1,500 athletes and officials from universities drawn from across Africa.

According to the VC, female and male athletes will  compete for laurels in 17 Games namely: Athletics (track and field), Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis, Swimming, Taekwondo, Judo, Karate, Cricket, Hockey, Chess, Scrabble and Boxing (Demonstration Sport).

 She said the opening ceremony of the 10-day event will hold on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the University of Lagos, Akoka while the closing ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Lagos State University in Ojo. 

“Other features of the 10-day Games include the Scientific Conference during which sports academics will have the opportunity to share and create new knowledge around sports.”

“For us at the University of Lagos, the 11th FASU Games is coming 2 years after we single-handedly hosted the 26th Nigerian Universities Games (NUGA) with over 5,000 Athletes and officials across 75 Nigerian Universities on our Campus, it was such a remarkable outing which saw stakeholders unanimously rating the 26th NUGA “the best NUGA so far”.

Lagos State Government Advocates Women Empowerment, Poverty Alleviation on 2024 World Humanitarian Day

Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Mrs. Bolaji Cecilia Dada, has  emphasized the critical need for compassion, empathy, and action in addressing global challenges.

Speaking at an event on Monday, August 19, 2024, to commemorate the World Humanitarian Day with the theme: “No Matter What: Humanitarians Deliver”, Hon. Dada highlighted the significance of humanitarian efforts, particularly in the context of poverty alleviation and the empowerment of women.

She stressed that women, who often make up the majority of those living in poverty, should be at the forefront of humanitarian interventions.

“Poverty alleviation and the empowerment of women are not just policies; they are humanitarian imperatives,” Mrs. Dada remarked. “When we invest in women, we uplift entire communities, paving the way for a more equitable and just society.”

The Commissioner called on governments, organizations, and individuals to come together, transcending boundaries and ideologies, to prioritize human dignity above all else.

She urged for collective action to support those facing hardship, including conflict, displacement, and inequality, noting that the response to these challenges defines the strength of our societies.

Hon.Dada also paid tribute to the countless aid workers, community leaders, and activists who continue to work tirelessly in the face of adversity. She encouraged everyone to contribute to humanitarian efforts, no matter how small, as each act of kindness and support can ignite hope and change lives.



The Commissioner urged the public to reflect on the importance of humanitarianism and to consider how they can contribute to making a positive impact on the lives of others. “Together, we can build a brighter future for all,” she stated.

World Humanitarian Day is observed annually on August 19 to honor those who have dedicated their lives to humanitarian causes and to raise awareness about the ongoing need for global compassion and action.

Somolu: TechSpark Concludes with Exciting Finale on AI, Drone Technology

The third and final week of TechSpark, an innovative programme organized by the Somolu Local Government, is set to culminate with a thrilling focus on Artificial Intelligence, AI, and Drone Technology.
This week marks the conclusion of the three-week initiative designed to equip young participants with cutting-edge technology skills.

During the first two weeks, participants built a strong foundation in coding and computer literacy. Now, these young innovators will dive into the fascinating world of AI, where they will learn to harness its power to drive innovation and tackle real-world challenges.

Also, they will explore aerial robotics through interactive workshops and hands-on activities with drone technology, gaining first-hand experience in the exciting possibilities of drone missions.

The Special Adviser on ICT to Hon. Abdulhammed Salawu, Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Kola Muhammed, said the programme will not only provide an immersive learning experience but will also test the participants’ skills through a comprehensive assessment.

He said: “This final challenge will allow the young tech enthusiasts to demonstrate their understanding and abilities, showcasing what they’ve learned throughout the course”.

“To celebrate their achievements, each participant will receive a Certificate of Attendance, symbolizing their hard work, dedication, and newly acquired expertise in the realm of technology”.

Lagos Int’l Cinema Convention: CAPPA Urges Film Industry To Sustain #SmokeFreeNollywood

The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa, CAPPA, has urged the country’s regulators and the film and cinema industry to protect the next generation of Nigerians from the predatory tactics of the tobacco industry by sustaining the #SmokeFreeNollywood campaign.

CAPPA’s Executive Director, Akinbode Oluwafemi said the tobacco industry had a track record of surreptitiously using movies and music to entice young persons to take up the deadly habit of smoking.

“This is not only unlawful but also undermines tobacco control efforts and worsens Nigeria’s non-communicable diseases (NCDs) burden,” Oluwafemi said.

The tobacco control expert spoke during the second edition of the Lagos International Film and Cinema Convention, LIFACC, held at Ebony Life Place, Victoria Island Lagos, on August 14 and 15, 2024.

LIFACC is promoted as the finest gathering of cinema owners, top executives, film distributors, film producers, cinema set-up facilities/equipment manufacturers/suppliers, and all sundry businesses around the cinema business worldwide.

Oluwafemi, represented by CAPPA’s Policy and Research Manager, Zikora Ibeh, spoke on “Smoking in Movies and Urgency of Regulatory Action: Lessons from Other Film Hub.”

“Tobacco is a killer,” he said, “the tobacco industry is built on deception, lies. The industry is notorious for exploiting the film industry worldwide to influence youths.

“Nollywood films and Nigerian music videos are watched by families and youths in Nigeria and beyond. We must protect them from harmful images encouraging tobacco use.

“There is enough data to show that a lot of teenagers take up smoking because of what they watch on screen. Entertainment is used by the industry to influence young people to use tobacco. Nigerian entertainment is watched across the continent and even Asia and Europe. We cannot allow tobacco corporations to continue exploiting these films to compromise the health and the future of our children.”

Oluwafemi urged Nigeria’s film industry, known as Nollywood, to be wary of the industry’s tricks, adding that “the depiction of tobacco use in films is a form of promotion that influences tobacco use, particularly by young people.”

He explained that the industry targets Nollywood through indirect marketing in movies through “product placement, products mention, actors’ outfits/props, unnecessary smoking scenes and endorsements.”

The CAPPA ED urged stakeholders to comply with the directives of the National Tobacco Control Act and the National Tobacco Control Regulations that already prohibit the use, promotion or sponsorship of tobacco in films.

Oluwafemi also commended recent efforts by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) to sanitise the entertainment industry with its latest subsidiary regulation, aimed at prohibiting the glamorisation of tobacco and nicotine products in movies, musical videos, and skits.

He noted that the NFVCB Regulations 2024 mirrors global best practices and should be upheld by all stakeholders in the industry to safeguard the well-being of the public who consume their content.

…..Organise Cholera Prevention and Environmental Sanitation Workshop.

The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria Lagos Chapter, APWENLagos,under the leadership of its Chairman, Engr. Atinuke Wuraola Owolabi, FNSE, in collaboration with WaterAid, on Saturday, August 17 organised a workshop on cholera prevention, environmental sanitation, and waterways cleanup for residents of the Aiyetoro, Makoko community in Lagos state.

This initiative was driven by the Young Engineers of APWENLagos, who are advocates for SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).

Representatives from WaterAid led the workshop, educating the community on the critical importance of maintaining a clean environment. They highlighted that a clean environment, coupled with proper sanitation practices, is crucial in preventing diseases. Emphasizing that sanitation is “every man’s business,” they urged residents to adopt proper waste management practices and avoid disposing of waste into the waterways.

Head of Lagos Programme at WaterAid, Mr. Adebayo Alao, stressed the importance of good hygiene, noting that this initiative is not just a one-time cleanup effort but the beginning of an ongoing sanitation campaign for the residents of Aiyetoro.

He announced that the CDA Chairman would appoint 50 residents as environmental sanitation officers, who would be empowered by WaterAid, through the Yaba LCDA, to enforce proper sanitation practices within the community.

A significant concern raised during the workshop was the lack of toilets in the community, which poses a serious health risk. APWENLagos is appealing to all well-meaning individuals and organizations to support efforts to address this critical issue. WaterAid has also assured its commitment to sponsoring engineering innovative solutions that could significantly improve the lives of the Aiyetoro community.


Past chairman of the Association, Engr. Mary Afolayan, MNSE, also encouraged the residents, noting that while APWENLagos and other voluntary organizations can support the community, the success of maintaining a clean environment ultimately depends on the residents’ commitment.

On her part, Chairman of APWENLagos, Engr. Atinuke Owolabi noted that sustaining a clean community would encourage the association to provide additional support, such as assisting students who have dropped out of school and empowering individuals with skills to improve their living standards. She also mentioned that scholarships would be offered to girls in the community with a passion for STEM, following a series of mentorship programs.

Earlier, the Baale and CDA Chairman of Aiyetoro expressed their gratitude to APWENLagos for initiating this timely and much-needed intervention, stating that they are fully committed to achieving a cleaner community.


The sanitation and waterways cleanup commenced at the Baale’s residence, symbolising the community’s commitment to the initiative.

APWENLagos was given a time frame to revisit the community to assess the progress of the sanitation efforts.
