The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Lagos State Command has deployed 2,150 personnel and operational assets across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations to ensure security and prevent vandalism of critical national infrastructure.
Lagos State Commandant, Adedotun Keshinro, disclosed that the deployment followed the Federal Government’s declaration of Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays for the Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
According to him, the large movement of residents, travellers and visitors expected during the festive period made it necessary for the command to activate proactive security measures before, during and after the celebrations.
Keshinro stated that the operational strategy would help combat criminal activities, protect critical national assets and infrastructure, and curb the activities of vandals and other criminal elements capable of threatening the state’s economic growth and development.
He explained that officers and men of the command had been strategically deployed across all formations to secure strategic locations, oil pipelines, worship centres, parks, gardens, transportation corridors and other critical facilities across Lagos State.
The commandant also directed personnel to remain on red alert and discharge their responsibilities professionally while respecting the rights of residents.
While congratulating Muslim faithful on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Keshinro urged them to imbibe the virtues of sacrifice, prayer, sobriety, compassion and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
He further appealed to Nigerians to use the festive season to pray for national unity, peace and progress.
The command encouraged residents to remain security conscious and report suspicious activities through its official communication channels and emergency lines.
