The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Police Command, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has extended Eid El Kabir and Children’s Day greetings to Muslim faithful and children across Lagos and Ogun states, while assuring residents of adequate security throughout the celebration period.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the AIG described Eid El Kabir as a sacred season symbolising sacrifice, obedience, peace, unity, and love, urging residents to embrace tolerance, compassion, and peaceful coexistence.
He also celebrated Nigerian children, describing them as the future leaders whose welfare, protection, and moral upbringing should remain a collective responsibility.
AIG Jimoh assured residents that the Zone 2 Headquarters, in collaboration with the Commissioners of Police in Lagos and Ogun states, had put in place proactive security measures to prevent any breakdown of law and order during the festivities.
According to him, security agencies have intensified operational strategies aimed at ensuring peaceful and hitch-free celebrations across both states.
The police chief further directed the Commissioners of Police in Lagos and Ogun to strengthen visibility policing, intelligence gathering, patrol operations, and traffic management before, during, and after the celebrations.
He urged residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and security conscious, while encouraging members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or emergency lines.
The AIG reaffirmed the commitment of the Zone 2 Police Command to sustaining peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property across Lagos and Ogun states during the festive period.
