The University of Lagos, UNILAG has reaffirmed its commitment to reimbursing students who had earlier paid their obligatory fees prior to receiving disbursements from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, NELFUND.

In response to recent reports alleging delays in refunding students, the university management clarified that reimbursements are carried out in line with a standard verification and reconciliation process with NELFUND.

According to a statement signed by the Head of the Communication Unit, Mrs. Adejoke R. Alaga-Ibraheem, UNILAG has so far received three tranches of the loan.

The statement noted that reimbursements to beneficiaries in the first and second batches have been successfully completed. For the third batch, which arrived at the end of April, student payment details are currently being reviewed.

“Please be assured that refunds will be processed according to regulations once the exercise is completed,” the statement read, emphasizing the university’s values of transparency, accountability, and student-centered service delivery.

The management of UNILAG also encouraged students to take advantage of the NELFUND loan scheme and to reach out to the NELFUND Help Desk located within the Student Affairs Division for assistance or complaint resolution.
