The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal, KLT Area Command, Deputy Comptroller BL Adigun, has carried out a comprehensive operational efficiency review of bonded terminals under the command.
Adigun embarked on the working and familiarisation visit on Monday, December 15, 2025, shortly after assuming duty, with a view to assessing terminal operations, compliance with Customs laws and procedures, and overall operational effectiveness.
According to the command, the visit was aimed at evaluating cargo handling processes, identifying areas for improvement, and strengthening supervisory oversight of officers deployed to the terminals. It also provided an opportunity to assess safety, security and operational readiness across the facilities.
Bonded terminals visited during the exercise included Bestaf Terminal, Joliz Terminal, Phase 2 Terminal, ESSLIBRA Terminal, and Port Express Terminal. At the terminals, Deputy Comptroller Adigun inspected facilities, reviewed operational procedures and stressed the importance of discipline, integrity and strict adherence to extant Customs regulations.
The Acting Area Controller also visited licensed terminals yet to commence full operations, namely Beachland Consortium Limited, Harvard Terminal, and Tenzik Terminal. He confirmed that the terminals had met the required documentary and facility standards, assuring them of the command’s support as they explore business opportunities within the maritime corridor.
Commending officers for their dedication and exemplary service, Adigun urged them to strengthen teamwork as a collective approach to facilitating legitimate trade. He also emphasised the need for enhanced collaboration with sister agencies and stakeholders, particularly in upholding regulatory standards.
The visit, the command said, afforded the Acting Area Controller a comprehensive understanding of the operational dynamics of the KLT Command, thereby reinforcing effective supervision of bonded terminals under his jurisdiction.
His focus on operational excellence, strict compliance, accountability and trade facilitation was described as the defining hallmark of the inspection exercise.
