The Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, has constituted a Monitoring Team to ensure strict oversight and accountability in the use of public resources provided to security agencies operating in the State.
Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Fund, Dr Ayo Ogunsan, said the move is aimed at promoting transparency and ensuring that security agencies benefiting from LSSTF support remain responsible and responsive to public trust.
The constitution of the Monitoring Team fulfils a commitment made by Dr Ogunsan during a recent Strategic Media Parley with senior editors and media executives, where he declared that the era of abuse and misuse of public resources was over.
Speaking at the parley held at the LSSTF headquarters on December 5, 2025, Ogunsan outlined his leadership priorities, stressing that public confidence in the Fund is critical.
He pledged that transparency would be the standard, not the exception, with strict oversight of contractor performance, close monitoring of funded projects, publication of updates on the use of donations, and strengthened internal governance and stakeholder engagement.
According to the LSSTF, the Monitoring Team has been given clear mandates, including tracking and monitoring vehicles and other security assets deployed to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), conducting routine field inspections, maintaining accurate asset records, and providing operational reports.
Other responsibilities include assessing the application of security assets as a condition for further allocations, monitoring repairs and refurbishments funded by the Trust Fund, and carrying out any additional duties as may be assigned.
The LSSTF said the Monitoring Team will soon be formally inaugurated, with a public presentation of a monitoring vehicle to support its operations.
