Polaris Bank says it has planted 10,000 trees across 16 locations in the Federal Capital Territory and 13 states as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation and climate resilience.
The bank disclosed this following a tree planting exercise held at the Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos on October 12, 2026, in collaboration with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF).
The initiative, launched in 2024, is aimed at supporting environmental conservation and sustainable community development through practical tree planting activities.
Speaking at the exercise, Polaris Bankās Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, Abimbola Ozomah, said the programme reflected the bankās commitment to translating its sustainability objectives into measurable environmental benefits.
She said the trees could contribute to restoring degraded land, improving soil fertility and increasing vegetation cover, while economic tree varieties could also provide potential income opportunities for communities as they mature.
āAt Polaris Bank, sustainability is not a slogan, it is a principle that guides our daily actions. It is about transforming bold commitments into measurable impact,ā Ozomah said.
She added that environmental conservation required sustained commitment from individuals, organisations and other stakeholders, urging participants to nurture the seedlings to ensure their long-term survival.
The partnership with the NCF forms part of the bankās broader sustainability efforts, which seek to support ecological restoration and encourage community participation in environmental protection.
Polaris Bank said it would continue to promote environmental initiatives through its nationwide tree planting programme and partnerships with organisations working to protect Nigeriaās natural environment.
