The Lagos State Police Command has announced heightened security measures across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day celebrations.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, ordered massive deployment of police personnel to worship centres, highways, motor parks, recreation centres, critical infrastructure, and other strategic locations across Lagos State.
The deployment, according to the command, is in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at ensuring adequate security during the festive period.
The command stated that Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, Police Mobile Force personnel, Counter Terrorism Units, Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear operatives, as well as Traffic Officers, have been directed to intensify visibility policing and strengthen anti-crime operations across their areas of responsibility.
The police said the measures are intended to guarantee the safety of lives and property, ensure effective crowd control, and maintain free flow of traffic during the celebrations.
The Commissioner of Police also directed officers to strengthen surveillance and security along major highways, entry and exit routes, linking roads, city centres, and other vulnerable points across the state.
Fatai further warned officers and personnel involved in the operations to remain professional, courteous, and civil while carrying out their duties.
The police commissioner congratulated Muslim faithful in Lagos on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir and wished them a peaceful and crime-free celebration.
He also extended greetings to children across the state as they mark the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, which coincides with the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
Fatai advised children and youths to shun violence, criminality, and other social vices, while encouraging them to embrace positive values and remain security conscious.
He further urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, persons, or incidents to the nearest police station.
The command also appealed to motorists, travellers, and other road users to cooperate with officers deployed across highways and strategic locations to ensure a safe, orderly, and hitch-free celebration across Lagos State.
