Wema Bank Rewards 273 Customers with ₦17.96 Million in First Month of 5 for 5 Campaign

Wema Bank has rewarded 273 customers with a total of ₦17.96 million within the first month of the fifth season of its 5 for 5 Rewards campaign, reinforcing its commitment to customer loyalty and financial inclusion.

The campaign, which was launched on May 2, 2026, as part of the bank’s 81st anniversary celebrations, is designed to encourage positive financial habits while rewarding customers across its Youth, Women and Mass Market segments.

The rewards programme commenced with a special activation at Ikeja City Mall, where 81 customers received ₦81,000 each, resulting in a payout of ₦6.56 million on the launch day alone. Since then, an additional 192 customers have emerged as winners through daily and monthly draws.

In the Youth category, 37 students received rewards totaling ₦4.4 million. The beneficiaries included 20 students who won ₦50,000 each through the PocketMoni initiative and 17 university students who received ₦200,000 each as tuition support.

The Women segment also recorded notable participation, with 12 customers receiving ₦150,000 each under the #SelfCare reward category.

The Mass Market segment accounted for the highest number of beneficiaries. Within the first month, 120 customers received daily cash rewards, while 23 customers emerged winners of ₦200,000 each during the monthly draw, bringing total rewards in the category to ₦5.2 million.

Speaking on the campaign’s performance, Moruf Oseni said the initiative reflects the bank’s belief that customer loyalty should be rewarded in meaningful, transparent and accessible ways.

According to him, the positive response to the campaign demonstrates that everyday banking can create tangible opportunities for customers while encouraging responsible financial behaviour.

He noted that beyond rewarding transactions, the programme aims to deliver real value to customers and promote a culture of consistent savings and financial discipline.

Customers can qualify for the rewards by opening or reactivating a Wema Bank account, funding it with at least ₦5,000, maintaining a minimum average monthly balance of ₦5,000, and carrying out at least five transactions monthly through the bank’s channels, including the ALAT app, Wema Bank cards, ALAT cards, or the *945# USSD platform.

With more than ₦170 million earmarked for rewards between May and December 2026, the bank said thousands of additional customers are expected to benefit from the campaign in the coming months as it continues to promote customer engagement and financial inclusion.
