The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, has described the late Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Salihu Khan as “an angel” whose death has left a huge void in the security community.
Dr. Ogunsan made the remarks while mourning the passing of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration at the Lagos State Police Command, describing him as a dedicated officer, consummate professional and compassionate leader who touched many lives.
Condoling with the family of the deceased, the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police, and officers and men of the Lagos State Police Command, the LSSTF boss said the late officer’s death was a painful loss not only to the Nigeria Police Force but also to the broader security architecture of Lagos State.
“We have lost an angel,” Dr. Ogunsan said. “DCP Khan Salihu was one of the finest officers I had the privilege of knowing. He was cultured, extremely nice, humble, and always willing to help. He carried himself with dignity and treated everyone with respect, regardless of status or position.”
According to him, DCP Khan earned the trust and confidence of the leadership of the Lagos State Police Command through years of dedicated service, loyalty and unwavering commitment to duty.
He noted that the deceased officer served diligently and remained a dependable pillar within the command’s leadership structure, contributing significantly to the administration and operational effectiveness of the Force.
Dr. Ogunsan further praised the late officer’s interpersonal skills, describing him as a bridge-builder who was admired by colleagues, stakeholders and members of the public for his calm disposition and accessibility.
“His professionalism was exemplary, but beyond that, he was a genuinely good man and lover of God. His passing leaves a void that will be difficult to fill,” he said.
The LSSTF CEO said the security community in Lagos would continue to remember DCP Khan as a man who served with honour, integrity and dedication, while positively impacting the lives of many through his kindness and selfless service.
He urged the bereaved family, friends and colleagues of the late officer to take solace in the remarkable legacy he left behind, noting that his contributions to policing and public service would not be forgotten.
Dr. Ogunsan also prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased officer’s soul and for strength and comfort for all those affected by the loss.
