…..As LASPARK Issues Certificates of Tree Planting to Heads of Agencies.
As part of efforts to achieve a sustainable marine ecosystem, the Lagos State Ferry Services, LAGFERRY has planted and adopted about sixty trees of different species in its premises in the Mile 2 area of Lagos.
This tree planting exercise is in collaboration with the Lagos State Parks and Garden Agency, LASPARK is also aimed at promoting a greener and healthier Lagos for Future Generations.
In his welcome address, the Managing Director of LAGFERRY, Ladi Balogun explained that the tree planting exercise is riding on the First and Second Pillars of the T.H.E.M.E.S. PLUS Agenda of the present administration which is Traffic Management and Transportation and Health and Environment.
Balogun noted that the exercise also speaks to the health collaborative spirit among Agencies in Lagos and the state government’s commitment to promoting a greener and healthier environment for all its citizens.
On her part, the General Manager of LASPARK, Adetoun Popola who said the tree planting exercise is part of plans to plant twenty thousand trees across the State by July 2025, noted that different species of trees will be planted within the LAGFERRY premises including Coconut, Queens Palm Trees and Leafy Shrubs
among others.
Popola noted that tree planters will be awarded certificates to showcase the importance of tree planting, encourage others to plant trees, and help spread the gospel of a sustainable ecosystem in the state.
Earlier, the General Manager of Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, Damilola Emmanuel expressed satisfaction with the exercise which he said would further improve the environment for waterways users and other Lagosians.
Blacktalker reports that certificates of tree planting were issued at the event to Heads of Agencies such as the Managing Director of Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, Fatie Onafowokan, General Manager, Lagos State Resident Registration Agency, Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, General Manager Lagos State Coconut Development Agency, Oladapo Olakulehin.
Others are the General Manager of Lagos State Wastewater Management Office, Adefemi Afolabi, General Manager, Lagos State Pension Commission, Babalola Obilana, General Manager of Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency, Adenike Adekanbi, Executive Director of Lagos Pension Commission, Olumuyiwa Oshin, Managing Director, IBILE Oil and Gas Corporation, Doyin Akinyanju, and Chief Resilience Officer, Lagos State Resilience Office, Folayinka Dania.
