The re-election of Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has paved the way for renewed developmental reforms as the State Executive Council, ANSEC approved the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF.
The MTEF, adopted during the 22nd ANSEC meeting held on November 12, 2025, at the Light House, Awka, sets the fiscal direction for the state and provides the foundation for the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
The Council emphasized that the 2026 budget will be presented to the Anambra State House of Assembly and signed into law before December 31, 2026.
Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, who disclosed the resolutions of the meeting, said the Council reviewed several critical development priorities in line with Governor Soludo’s commitment to sustainable transformation.
A key decision of the meeting is the approval for the construction of 30 new primary and secondary schools in communities without public educational institutions. This move, according to the Council, will deepen the gains of Soludo’s ongoing education reforms and ensure widespread access to the state’s free education policy.
Since the introduction of the free education programme from primary school to Senior Secondary 3 (SS3), the Soludo administration has recruited 3,115 new teachers—bringing the total number to 8,115—to strengthen manpower across schools.
The governor has also upgraded 22 secondary schools into smart schools, equipped more than 60 laboratories with modern STEM facilities, and increased running costs for primary and secondary schools to enhance service delivery.
ANSEC also reflected on Governor Soludo’s recent landslide victory, where he secured 73 percent of the total votes and won in all 21 local government areas of the state. The Council described the outcome as evidence that governance driven by value, accountability, and development earns public trust.
They expressed gratitude to Ndi Anambra for their peaceful conduct during the election and reaffirmed their commitment to delivering even greater development outcomes in the governor’s second term.
