Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi has assumed office at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command, as the new Commissioner.
The FCT Police Command, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on Monday, said Sanusi officially assumed duty as the 35th Commissioner of Police on March 24, 2026.
He succeeds CP Miller G. Dantawaye, who has been elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police and redeployed to another strategic assignment by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
CP Sanusi is described as a seasoned officer with decades of service and extensive professional experience. Born on May 20, 1972, he hails from Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in May 2000 and began his career in the Niger State Police Command after completing his training in 2001.
Prior to his new appointment, he served as Commander of the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
Upon assuming office, Sanusi pledged to strengthen existing security frameworks and improve community-police relations across the FCT.
The Police Command called on residents to continue supporting its efforts in maintaining peace, law, and order within the territory.
