The Lagos State Government is set to launch the ”Produce for Lagos Programme”, a large-scale agricultural initiative designed to connect producers across Nigeria, improve market access, and strengthen the national food supply system.
The programme, spearheaded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems in collaboration with the Lagos Food Systems Infrastructure Company and other partners, will be unveiled on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
According to the Ministry, Produce for Lagos represents a strategic model of public-private partnership aimed at ensuring long-term food security, reducing post-harvest losses, and stabilising food prices through efficient bulk aggregation directly from smallholder farmers.
“This is a bold, nation-focused initiative,” a statement from the Ministry read. “It is about feeding the nation, one harvest at a time, by unlocking markets, improving logistics, and channeling fresh investment into agricultural value chains.”
The programme is expected to play a vital role in making food more accessible and affordable across Lagos and beyond, while also creating sustainable opportunities for farmers and agro-investors.
