More than 400 households in Majidun, Ikorodu, Lagos State, have received food assistance from JMG Limited and the Lagos Food Bank Initiative as rising food costs continue to put pressure on families’ ability to meet basic needs.

The intervention, held on October 17, 2026, to mark World Food Day, was organised under the Temporary Food Assistance Programme (TEFAP) to provide essential food supplies to vulnerable households.

The food boxes, according to the Lagos Food Bank Initiative’s Executive Director, Dr Michael Sunbola, could support a family of five for more than two to three weeks, offering beneficiaries temporary relief from the cost of feeding their families.

“Hundreds of families are receiving food boxes today that can support a family of five for more than two to three weeks. At a time when many struggling families do not know where their next meal will come from, this gesture by JMG brings hope, relief and joy,” Sunbola said.

He commended JMG for partnering with the initiative to deliver assistance directly to families in the community.

JMG’s Chief Operating Officer, Christian G. Kozma, said the outreach was designed to reach more than 400 women, recognising their roles in families and society.

He noted that the company’s support for women extended beyond its workplace to community-based initiatives intended to improve their welfare.

JMG’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Gloria Ibeziako, said addressing hunger required collective action from individuals, businesses and communities.

“At JMG, we believe in empowerment, care and shared responsibility. It is a source of pride to contribute to putting food on the tables of families who need support. Hunger is real, and every individual and organisation can play a role in reducing it,” she said.

For beneficiaries, the food assistance offered some relief from the pressure of providing daily meals. Morenike Adigun, one of the recipients, said the supplies would help her provide for her family and ease household expenses.

The Baale of Majidun Community, Chief Alex Olusegun Omoyele, also appreciated JMG and the Lagos Food Bank Initiative for extending the intervention to residents.

The exercise began at the Lagos Food Bank Initiative’s headquarters, where JMG executives and staff joined volunteers to package food items before proceeding to Majidun for distribution.

The partnership reflects efforts by businesses and community organisations to provide immediate assistance to households facing food insecurity, although the intervention is intended to offer temporary relief from the cost of meeting basic food needs.
