The Ogun State Police Command has intensified its enforcement drive under Operation “No Traffic Gridlock,” recording significant gains in Sango Ota and Ijebu Ode Toll Gate areas.
The operation, carried out on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, targeted illegal parking, roadside trading, and other activities contributing to traffic congestion across key corridors in the state.
In the Sango Ota axis, coordinated night operations led by the Area Commander resulted in the removal of shanties and illegal structures obstructing road setbacks.
Early morning enforcement efforts also led to the clearance of major obstruction points and the impoundment of six vehicles found violating traffic regulations.
The Command said the intervention has led to improved traffic flow in the area, with sustained monitoring ongoing to maintain compliance.
Similarly, enforcement operations in the Ijebu Ode Toll Gate corridor focused on indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty trucks and roadside trading along the highway. The exercise, led by the Area Commander in the area, ensured the systematic clearance of truck build-ups and other obstructions.
According to the police, the operation has significantly eased vehicular movement within the axis, while continuous monitoring has been put in place to sustain the progress.
Ojajuni warned that illegal parking, roadside trading, and obstruction of highways would not be tolerated, stressing that offenders would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining the operation until seamless traffic flow is achieved across all affected corridors in Ogun State.
The police also urged members of the public to support the initiative by reporting traffic-related issues through designated emergency lines.
