Ogun Police, NDLEA Warn Youths Against Cultism, Cybercrime at Leadership Conference

The Ogun State Police Command has intensified efforts to prevent youth involvement in cultism, cybercrime and substance abuse through a sensitisation programme at the Royal Ambassadors Nigeria National Leadership Training Conference.

The programme, organised under the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, brought together teenagers and young adults from across the country for discussions on crime prevention, responsible decision-making and leadership development.

Led by POCACOV State Coordinator, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, the police delegation and officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) educated participants on the dangers of cultism, cybercrime, substance abuse, negative peer influence and deceptive recruitment tactics.

The session, held under the conference theme, “Divine Companion,” emphasised self-discipline and the need for young people to resist pressures that could jeopardise their future.

Opeyemi urged participants to embrace integrity, accountability, patriotic citizenship and positive community engagement, stressing that early value reorientation and responsible leadership were essential to preventing criminal behaviour.

He said young people had an important role in building peaceful and secure communities, adding that their decisions would influence the future of society.

The national leadership of Royal Ambassadors Nigeria commended the Ogun State Police Command and the NDLEA for promoting preventive policing and community engagement.

It described collaboration between law enforcement agencies and faith-based youth organisations as important to nurturing responsible and value-driven leaders.

The conference ended with participants pledging to uphold moral standards, reject social vices and promote peace and positive values in their communities.

POCACOV Ogun State reaffirmed its commitment to sustained youth engagement and community-based crime prevention, noting that developing responsible young leaders remained central to efforts to build a safer society.
