Ogun Police Debunk Viral AI Videos Claiming Imminent Attacks

Ogun State Police Command has dismissed viral social media videos claiming imminent attacks on communities and tertiary institutions in the state, describing the content as fabricated using artificial intelligence, AI.

According to a statement from the Command, forensic analysis by its cybercrime and intelligence units confirmed that the videos were produced by an unidentified individual or group and did not originate from any known terrorist organization or operational cell.

The footage, which first appeared on a foreign online source approximately three months ago, has resurfaced in varying forms across different social media platforms, causing public concern.

The police emphasized that there is currently no credible intelligence indicating any planned attacks on Ogun State, its communities, schools, or public institutions.

The Command urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified content, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police formation.

In response to the viral videos, the Commissioner of Police has directed increased surveillance, enhanced patrols, and sustained inter-agency collaboration to ensure the safety and security of all residents.

“Ogun State remains safe, stable, and fully secured. The Command, in conjunction with other agencies, remains committed to protecting lives and property,” the statement concluded.
