Ogun Police Arrest Two Suspects in Abeokuta ‘One-Chance’ Robbery Crackdown

Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected members of a notorious “One Chance” robbery syndicate operating within Abeokuta metropolis.

The suspects, identified as 29-year-old Bidemi Tijani and 42-year-old Olajide Rasaq, were arrested on August 15, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation.

The Command said the operation followed actionable intelligence that members of the syndicate, who allegedly disguise themselves as commercial taxi operators to rob unsuspecting passengers of their phones, cash and other valuables, were sighted in a taxi heading towards Ita-Oshin, Abeokuta.

Acting on the information, VCRU operatives reportedly pursued the vehicle and intercepted it around Ita-Oshin, leading to the arrest of the two suspects.

According to the police, the suspects, during interrogation and while making statements under caution, confessed to being active members of the “One Chance” robbery syndicate allegedly terrorising commuters in the Abeokuta metropolis.

The Command said efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate, determine the full extent of their activities and recover relevant exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the VCRU operatives for their swift response, vigilance and professionalism.

Ojajuni reiterated the Command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements, warning that perpetrators of crime would find no safe haven in Ogun State.

He urged residents and commuters to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or criminal activities to the police through Gateway Shield on 0800 000 9111 or the emergency lines 09164859299 and 09154293464.
