Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, is set to host the 15th stop of Soundcity OnTour, as BIGI and Fearless Energy Drink bring a three-day programme of live music, talent discovery and entertainment to the university from August 18 to 20.
The Zaria activation is part of the 20-campus nationwide tour, which is taking a high-production concert experience to tertiary institutions across Nigeria from June to October, while providing student artistes with opportunities to showcase their talents and compete for national recognition.
A major feature of the tour is BIGI Music, the talent discovery platform embedded in Soundcity OnTour. At ABU, campus activities and build-up will take place on Day One, while Day Two will feature live BIGI Music auditions for student artistes.
The top five performers will earn places on the concert stage, with one eventual winner taking home a ₦1 million prize.
The talent search will continue beyond the campus competition, with winners from participating institutions advancing to regional battles, where judges and social engagement will determine the acts that progress to the national stage.
Two eventual national winners will receive full studio production, A&R mentorship led by Bankulli, Soundcity Radio rotation and professionally produced music videos.
The final day of the Zaria activation will feature the Soundcity OnTour concert, with performances from Nigerian artistes including Falz, Magnito, Firstklaz, Hypeman Best and DJ Dewik.
For Rite Foods Limited, makers of BIGI and Fearless Energy Drink, the tour provides an avenue to connect with young Nigerians through music and campus culture while creating opportunities for emerging artistes to gain visibility and advance their careers.
Following the Zaria activation, Soundcity OnTour will continue to other university campuses before concluding in Abuja in October.
At ABU, the organisers said the experience is designed to ensure that emerging student artistes have an opportunity to share the stage with established performers and potentially begin their journey towards national recognition.
