NAWOJ Lagos Congratulates Dr. Adeola Ekine on Appointment as Special Adviser to NUJ President

The Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ has congratulated its immediate past Chairperson, Dr. Adeola Ekine, on her appointment as Special Adviser to the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya.

The appointment was announced on Tuesday during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the NUJ held in Kano.

Dr. Ekine, a respected journalist and public affairs specialist, is known for her extensive experience in media and communication. She previously served as Chairperson of NAWOJ Lagos, where she was commended for her leadership, commitment to gender equality, and efforts to empower women in the media industry.

Her past roles include Vice Chairperson and Secretary of the NUJ Lagos Information Chapel. She is also a recipient of the Honorary Doctoral Fellowship Award from the Institute of Public Sector Management (IPSM), UK.

During her tenure at NAWOJ Lagos, Dr. Ekine led several advocacy and courtesy visits to public, private, and cultural organisations, including the Oba of Ikateland to strengthen collaboration on journalism advancement and women’s empowerment.

She is an active member of NAWOJ, NUJ, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR and the IPSM.

NAWOJ Lagos expressed confidence that her appointment will bring valuable expertise and support to the NUJ leadership.
