The Ogun State Police Command has reaffirmed the importance of partnerships with professional bodies in strengthening public trust, promoting public safety and improving police-community relations.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, mnipr, made the commitment while participating in the annual Owanbe Nite of the Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), held in Abeokuta under the theme, “Ariya Galore: Celebrating the Spirit of Oneness.”
Ojajuni, an NIPR member since 2005, said his participation reflected his longstanding professional affiliation and recognition of the role of public relations in modern policing, particularly in credible information dissemination, public enlightenment and stakeholder engagement.
The event, organised by the chapter led by Mrs Oluwaseun Boye, mnipr, featured the unveiling of the latest edition of its signature magazine, The Image Maker.
The publication highlights the chapter’s activities, policies and achievements, alongside topical issues and professional perspectives on contemporary public relations practice. It also showcases the institute’s contributions to professional development and responsible communication.
Also in attendance was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Delta State Police Command, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a Fellow of the institute, alongside other prominent personalities and senior public relations practitioners.
The Ogun State Police Command said public safety required purposeful collaboration beyond conventional security institutions, adding that Ojajuni remained committed to strengthening ties with professional bodies, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
The partnerships, according to the command, would help harness professional expertise and networks to build public confidence, prevent crime and sustain a safer Ogun State.
