The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, LNSA has arrested more than 130 suspected hoodlums during an early morning joint operation across Victoria Island, the Lekki-Ajah axis and parts of the Coastal Road.
The operation, led by the LNSA General Manager, Prince Dr. Ifalade Ajasa Oyekan, FISN, JP, began at about 2am following reports of criminal activities allegedly targeting motorists, particularly during periods of traffic congestion.
The task force received support from the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) and an armed detachment of the Nigeria Police Force, with coordination from the Chief Security Officer to the Lagos State Governor, Mr Kunle Fagbemi.
Following their arrest, the suspects were subjected to screening and presented to the LASSRA team domiciled within the LNSA for identification and profiling.
The agency said further investigations would determine the next steps, adding that suspects found culpable would be charged before the appropriate courts, while those requiring alternative intervention would be handled in accordance with the law.
Oyekan said the operation was aimed at protecting lives and property and ensuring that residents and motorists could move freely without fear of harassment or attack.
He commended the supporting agencies for their coordination and professionalism, while appreciating Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and the Commissioner for Special Duties, Gbenga Oyerinde, for their support towards strengthening security across Lagos.
The LNSA said similar joint operations would be sustained at strategic locations across the state as part of efforts to deter criminal activities and improve public safety.
