Lagos Police Train Officers on Election Security Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Lagos State Police Command has begun strengthening its personnel’s capacity to manage election-related security challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The command participated in a five-day Election Security Management Training organised by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), with facilitation by 3Streams Synergy, from October 26 to 30, 2026.

The training brought together officers mainly from the Lagos State Police Command, alongside personnel from the FCID Annex Lagos, Zone 2 Headquarters, Special Fraud Unit and Special Protection Unit.

The programme focused on professionalism, political neutrality, impartiality, respect for human rights, crowd management, inter-agency collaboration and adherence to the rule of law.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his commitment to capacity development and professional policing, as well as the NPTF for providing the training opportunity.

The command said the exercise was part of efforts to improve operational readiness ahead of the elections and assured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, safeguarding the electoral process and ensuring that citizens can exercise their democratic rights in a peaceful and secure environment.
