The Governing Council of Lagos State University, LASU has approved the reappointment of Mr. Emmanuel A. Fanu as Registrar and Secretary to the Council, alongside the appointment of Mr. Olabisi Yusuf as the new Bursar of the institution.
The appointments were approved at an emergency meeting of the Governing Council held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and will take effect from July 2, 2026, for a tenure of four years.
Mr. Fanu, who currently serves as Registrar and Secretary to Council, was reappointed following a competitive selection process. He joined the services of Lagos State University in 1999 as an Administrative Officer II and rose through the ranks over more than two decades of service.
Before his substantive appointment as Registrar in June 2022, he served in an acting capacity from June 2021 to February 2022.
Fanu holds a Bachelor of Science Education degree, a Master of Public Administration degree and a Diploma in Law from LASU. Throughout his career, he has participated in several national and international conferences on tertiary education administration through grants from organisations including the British Council, the United States Information Service (USIS) and the Lagos State Government.
The Council also approved the appointment of Mr. Olabisi Yusuf as Bursar. Yusuf, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), brings more than 20 years of experience in financial management and university administration.
He joined LASU in 2006 as a Principal Accountant at the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) and subsequently held several strategic positions, including Chief Accountant, Deputy Bursar and Head of Operations in the University’s Bursary Department.
Prior to his appointment, Yusuf served as Deputy Bursar, Treasury Services and Project Accountant at the Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education (ACEITSE).
He holds Higher National Diploma, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting and is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
Yusuf will succeed Mr. Said Babatunde Olayinka, whose tenure as Bursar ends on July 1, 2026.
The university disclosed that both appointments emerged from a competitive interview exercise conducted on June 10, 2026.
The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, congratulated the appointees and expressed confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and development of the institution.
She wished them a successful and impactful tenure in service to the university community.
