Female Officers of the Lagos State Police Command have embarked on a 5km Walkathon Against Gender-Based Violence as part of events marking the 70th anniversary of Nigeria Police Women.
The awareness walk, held on November 29, 2025, was organised in collaboration with the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, DSVA.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, led the walk alongside senior female officers including ACP Mary Ayim, the most senior female officer in the Command, female Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and other female personnel.
The walk kicked off at the Command Headquarters and proceeded through Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, with officers engaging members of the public and sensitising them on the need to collectively combat gender-based violence.
Speaking during the event, CP Jimoh commended the contributions of policewomen to the Lagos Command, noting their roles in crime prevention, arrest operations, and administrative leadership. He said their commitment has continued to boost the Command’s operational efficiency and enhance public confidence.
He reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to supporting women in policing and strengthening partnerships with relevant agencies to protect residents, especially survivors of gender-based violence.
