The Lagos State Police Command has arrested twenty-six suspects for offences ranging from possession of counterfeit currency to the production and sale of adulterated diesel in the Eti-Osa and Lekki areas of the state.
In a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the arrests were made on Wednesday, November 27, 2025, during a joint operation with operatives of the Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI. The raid led to the recovery of ₦951,300 in counterfeit notes.
Preliminary investigation revealed that four suspects, Abubakar Rilean, 40; Abubakar Abdullahi, 35; Adamu Ibrahim Jora, 35; and Michael John, 30, were allegedly involved in producing and marketing adulterated engine oil and diesel, commonly called “rice and beans.”
Two others, identified as Ichapi Moses, 30, and Samson Adike, 28, were reportedly supplying the products to the area.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, warned criminal elements to steer clear of Lagos, insisting that the Command is intensifying operations and closing in on offenders.
He assured residents that Lagos remains safe, stressing that anyone caught engaging in acts capable of disrupting public peace or harming the economy will face prosecution.
The Command urged the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information to assist ongoing crime-fighting efforts.
