The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Chinese investments, diplomatic facilities, critical infrastructure and the Chinese community in Lagos.
The State Commandant, NSCDC Lagos State Command, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, gave the assurance during a security conference and courtesy visit to the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
The Chinese Consul General, Her Excellency Ms. Yan Yuqing, was represented at the meeting by the Deputy Consul General, Mr. Wang Yue.
Keshinro said the visit was an opportunity to appreciate the continued support extended to NSCDC personnel through training and capacity-building programmes in China.
He recalled his previous visit to the Chinese Consulate in November 2025, where he emphasised the importance of manpower development and stronger partnerships to enhance training and professional growth within the Corps.
The Commandant reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to the safety, security and welfare of the Chinese community, diplomatic mission, major infrastructure projects and investments across Lagos State.
He said the Lagos State Command would continue to strengthen Nigeria-China bilateral relations through improved asset and infrastructure protection, emergency response and joint security initiatives.
During the engagement, the Chinese Consulate and the NSCDC delegation discussed security arrangements around key areas of Chinese investment in Lagos, particularly telecommunications, mining, road construction and railway infrastructure.
Wang commended the Lagos State Command for its professional support and law enforcement cooperation, attributing the progress recorded to effective collaboration and sustained engagement with the Command.
The Chinese Police Liaison Officer, Mr. Liu Kai, also participated in the discussions, with emphasis on cooperation in areas including Very Important Personality (VIP) protection and mining security.
The visit was attended by NSCDC officials including the Deputy Commandant of Corps in charge of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department, DCC Kolawole Agbetiloye; DCC Olurotimi Shoyoye, Head of Intelligence and Investigation; Chief Superintendent of Corps Alima Owomunigbon; CSC David Adediran, Staff Officer to the State Commandant; and CSC Vokee Oghoghome, Divisional Officer, Ojo Division.
