The Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF has donated a 28-seater Coaster Bus to the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Lagos State Command, to strengthen its operational capacity.
The bus was officially handed over on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, by the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, to the Comptroller of Immigration, Lagos State Command, Comptroller Christopher Olu Onajinrin.
Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, Comptroller Onajinrin expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for the intervention, describing it as timely and strategic.
He said the vehicle would significantly improve the Command’s ability to transport personnel and conduct the movement and repatriation of irregular migrants.
According to him, the Command recently repatriated 128 irregular migrants from Cameroon, Chad and Burkina Faso, noting that such operations often require substantial logistics and the high cost of hiring vehicles had remained a major challenge.
He explained that the newly donated bus would reduce operational costs, improve response time during enforcement operations and strengthen the Command’s migration management responsibilities across Lagos State.
Onajinrin added that the support would enhance service delivery and further reinforce the Command’s efforts to safeguard Nigeria’s borders while promoting orderly migration.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Dr. Ogunsan commended the Nigeria Immigration Service, Lagos State Command, for its commitment to maintaining security in Lagos.
He said the LSSTF would continue to support agencies that contribute to the safety of residents, stressing that security remains a shared responsibility.
Ogunsan also acknowledged the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the people of Lagos State and the LSSTF Board of Trustees for making the donation possible.
He urged the Immigration Service to intensify its operations, assuring the Command of continued collaboration in efforts to keep Lagos safe.
The ceremony concluded with the formal presentation of the Coaster Bus and a group photograph.
