Osiyemi described the Omi Eko Project as one of Africa’s most ambitious inland waterways initiatives, noting that it is designed to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, enhance passenger safety, stimulate economic activities and promote environmental sustainability through electric ferry services.

He said the PMOD consultant would play a critical role in coordinating stakeholders, supporting implementation and ensuring the successful delivery of the project.

The Commissioner stressed that the project’s success would depend on collaboration among the Lagos State Government, development partners, consultants, contractors and host communities.

He also thanked the French Development Agency (AFD), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Union (EU) for supporting the state’s vision for sustainable urban mobility, while commending the Omi Eko Project Team and the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) for advancing the initiative.
