JMG Solar, the renewable energy division of JMG Limited, has installed and commissioned a hybrid solar power system for St Catherine’s Specialist Hospital in Wuse 2, Abuja.

St Catherine’s Specialist Hospitals Limited, established in Port Harcourt in 1999 with an Abuja branch opened in 2016, provides healthcare services to Nigerians and foreign patients. The hospital sought a more stable and efficient power solution to support uninterrupted healthcare delivery and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources.

Following a detailed load analysis, JMG Solar deployed a hybrid solar solution comprising 92.8kWp solar photovoltaic generation, 65kW hybrid inverter capacity and 160.8kWh lithium battery storage.

The installation features 160 Longi solar panels rated at 580W each, three 20kW Deye hybrid inverters, one 5kW inverter and 30 Deye lithium batteries. The system also includes a smart monitoring platform integrated into the inverter for real-time performance tracking.

According to JMG Solar, the hybrid solution now generates approximately 11.13MWh of solar energy monthly, equivalent to about 133.63MWh annually, enabling the hospital to meet its energy demands through solar power and battery storage.

The company disclosed that the hospital’s diesel consumption dropped from 2,000 litres monthly to 1,000 litres within four months of the installation, translating to estimated savings of about N14 million on diesel costs during the period.

Monthly power expenditure also reduced from N7 million to N5 million after the installation, resulting in savings of about N2 million monthly after lease fees, with no capital expenditure incurred by the hospital.

In addition to the financial savings, the project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 53,091 kilograms annually, supporting the hospital’s environmental sustainability goals.

Speaking on the project, JMG representative, Chisom Okoye, said the system has been fully installed and commissioned successfully.

“The 65kW hybrid solar solution with 92.8kWp solar power and 160.8kWh lithium battery storage has been successfully installed and commissioned at the client’s facility. The system is fully operational and delivering reliable energy performance,” Okoye said.

JMG Solar said it would continue providing hybrid solar solutions for residential, commercial and industrial customers across Nigeria to improve energy efficiency, lower operating costs and reduce environmental impact.
