The Ogun State Police Command has promoted and decorated 430 junior officers, a move described as a reflection of the welfare-focused leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The decoration ceremony, conducted across the Command’s headquarters and other formations in the state, saw six Sergeants elevated to the rank of Inspector, four Corporals promoted to Sergeant, and 420 Constables advanced to the rank of Corporal.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, said the promotion exercise underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to rewarding hard work, professionalism and dedication to duty.

He noted that the promotions align with the Inspector-General’s efforts to improve officers’ welfare, motivation and career development, stressing that timely promotion remains an important factor in boosting morale and enhancing productivity within the Force.

According to Ojajuni, the advancement of the officers is a clear demonstration of the Force’s recognition of excellence and commitment to encouraging personnel to remain dedicated to their responsibilities.

The Commissioner congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to see their elevation as a call to greater service, professionalism and accountability.

He charged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force by carrying out their duties with integrity, discipline and respect for human rights, while remaining committed to the rule of law.

Ojajuni also emphasised the need for the officers to demonstrate higher levels of responsibility in their various assignments, noting that promotion comes with increased expectations and leadership obligations.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to the welfare of officers and men, adding that initiatives aimed at improving personnel welfare and professional development remain critical to strengthening policing and enhancing service delivery.

The Commissioner further assured that the Ogun State Police Command would continue to support programmes and reforms designed to improve institutional capacity, operational effectiveness and professionalism in line with global best practices.

The promotion exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to enhance staff welfare, recognise outstanding service and strengthen the capacity of personnel to effectively discharge their duties in safeguarding lives and property.
