The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, ARCON has named the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, as Chief Host of the 2026 Advertising Industry Colloquium, while the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, will chair the event.

The colloquium, themed “The Future of Advertising: Roles of Platforms, People and Regulations,” is scheduled to hold on August 6, 2026, at D’Podium Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos.

ARCON said the annual event will bring together advertisers, advertising agencies, academics, media organisations, creative professionals, technology platforms, regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders to examine emerging trends shaping Nigeria’s advertising and marketing communications industry.

The council said the colloquium provides a platform for dialogue between academia and industry to advance scholarship, professionalism and innovation in advertising and marketing communications.

According to ARCON, the event is part of its efforts to promote meaningful conversations on evolving industry issues while strengthening a regulatory environment that supports responsible advertising, innovation and sustainable sector growth.

It noted that the participation of the Minister of Information and National Orientation as Chief Host reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to responsible communication, national development and the growth of Nigeria’s creative and advertising industries.

As chairman of the event, the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, is expected to provide strategic leadership and leverage his experience to guide discussions at the colloquium.

The programme will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions and interactive sessions focusing on the future of advertising and strategic communications, particularly the evolving roles of digital platforms, industry professionals and regulatory frameworks.

ARCON described the event as another step towards bridging the gap between industry and academia while encouraging collaboration to strengthen ethical advertising practices and professional standards.

The council invited stakeholders and members of the public to participate in the 2026 Advertising Industry Colloquium.
