As part of activities to mark the 55th convocation ceremony of the University of Lagos, UNILAG,the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University Governing Council, Chief Wole Olanipekun,CFR, SAN, has commissioned several landmark projects alongside members of the University management team.
The projects commissioned included: the African Centre of Excellence for Drug Research, Herbal Medicine Development, and Regulatory Science (ACEDHARS Building): A World Bank-supported Centre of Excellence focused on developing indigenous plants for medical applications.
Another is the new 120-bed extension of Moremi Hall which is designed to provide additional student housing. This project is coming on the heels of current hostel renovations being carried out by the University.

Next is the ultra-modern Learning Commons: An extension of the University Main Library dedicated to student-centered services, fostering creative engagement, facilitating research collaboration, and supporting knowledge co-creation.
Speaking on the Learning Commons at the pre convocation press conference, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, said the project was funded by the allocation obtained by the University from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund.
