The Ogun State Police Command has announced that the Passing Out Parade (POP) for the 2022 recruit intakes will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Police Training School, Iperu, by 10:00 a.m.
In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, anipr, this ceremony will mark the completion of six months of rigorous and comprehensive training undertaken by 308 young officers.
CSP Odutola noted that the newly trained recruits are expected to bring a fresh wave of professionalism, discipline, and dedication to policing in Nigeria as they prepare to serve their communities.
She highlighted that the Training Programme included a carefully selected range of courses designed to meet modern policing standards and these courses are:
Professional Studies: Covering key aspects of police duties such as the history of the police force, its organization and departments, beat system, and discipline.
Legal Studies: Encompassing constitutional and criminal laws, the Evidence Act, and traffic laws to ensure recruits are well-versed in the legal framework guiding their duties.
Liberal Studies: A broader set of skills was developed, including English language, computer literacy, gender studies, French, community policing, social media policy, and public relations.
Field Studies: Practical training in parade drills, weapon handling, and tactical maneuvering to prepare the recruits for real-world challenges.
CSP Odutola said the event will be a platform for members of the public, stakeholders, and dignitaries to witness the accomplishments of the recruits and appreciate the efforts of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM. She urged the public to attend this auspicious occasion and engage with the ongoing efforts to build a more effective and trusted police force.
Earlier in a message to the passing-out recruits, the IGP emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and rejecting corruption in all its forms. He issued a stern warning that any officer found engaging in corrupt practices would face severe disciplinary actions, in line with the values and standards upheld by the Nigeria Police Force.
