The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria,TRCN has inducted 274 students of the Faculty of Education, Lagos State University, LASU into the teaching profession.
The induction ceremony, held on April 17, 2026, took place at the Conference Hall of the 3-in-1 Complex, LASU Main Campus, Ojo.
The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, represented by Abayomi Adeleke, congratulated the inductees and declared the event open.
In his address, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Olugbenga Akindoju, represented by Lateefat Yahya, described the induction as a significant milestone in the students’ academic and professional journey. He noted that teaching remains a noble profession that shapes minds and contributes to national development, urging the inductees to uphold professionalism, integrity, and dedication.
He also stressed the importance of adhering to ethical standards set by TRCN while embracing innovation and adaptability in modern teaching.
Delivering her remarks, the Registrar and Chief Executive of TRCN, Ronke Soyonbo, highlighted the importance of the 4Cs—Creativity, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Collaboration—as essential skills for 21st-century educators.
Soyonbo noted that the Council is leveraging digital tools to modernise teaching practices and encouraged the newly inducted teachers to adopt innovative methods that empower learners.
She further emphasised the critical role teachers play in national development, describing the profession as transformative and requiring continuous improvement and excellence.
The induction proceedings were coordinated by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Emmanuel A. Fanu, represented by Modupe Obayomi-Davies.
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of TRCN certificates and licences to the inductees by representatives of the university and the Council, who charged them to be exemplary professionals.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Faculty Coordinator of TRCN at LASU, Oludare Olufowobi, alongside TRCN officials, Heads of Departments, and members of staff of the Faculty of Education.
