Over sixty youths drawn from various communities within the Somolu Local Government Area have commenced a three day up-skill training on ICT and other digital skills .
Speaking at the opening, Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Abdul-Hamed Salawu said the training underscores the present administration’s unwavering commitment to nurturing talent and fostering self-sufficiency among our youth in the field of ICT.
Salawu, who was represented by the supervisor of Youth and Sports, Hector Ayo- Coker urged all participants to seize the opportunity with enthusiasm and dedication, while striving to create something remarkable with the newfound knowledge.
”I am particularly happy and I feel fulfilled once again that we are not far from our people and our future leaders are very dear to us and to our administration.
Today, we are launching #SKILLSHOP which underscores our unwavering commitment to nurturing talent and fostering self-sufficiency among our youth in the field of ICT.
During this course of SKILLSHOP, we will be training over 100 registered youths FREE OF CHARGE in Front-End Web Development, UI/UX Design, and other Digital Skills. Additionally, selected participants will be awarded a six-week scholarship to further enhance their skills in these areas.”
The Executive Chairman of Solomu Local government urged all participants to seize this opportunity with enthusiasm, dedication, make the most out of this FREE SKILL SHOP and strive to create something remarkable with their newfound knowledge.

Special Adviser on ICT to the Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Olukola Muhammad said participants are expected to learn Front-End Web Development, UI/UX design and other ICT digital skills, noting that plans are on to extend the training for six weeks as a form of scholarship for participants who show promising talents.
‘Our medium and long term goal is to help our youths to gain useful tech skills in order for them to be competent, grow their self esteem and get tech jobs to improve their economic and social status.
In other words, this is another form of Human Capital Development Strategy by Hon. Abdulhammed Salawu’s administration in line with the THEMES+ AGENDA of Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
Over 130 youths registered for the FREE #SKILLSHOP. However, 64 participated physically in the physical training @ Tech Shepherd’s facility in Somolu.
7 competent and certified facilitators and tech trainers are available to teach the attendees on their chosen track of UI/UX Design or Front-End Web Development.”
Earlier, participants at the training, who commended the local government for the initiative which they described as innovative also spoke on their expectations from the training.
