Residents of Somolu and its environs have again benefited from a three-day Digital Training tagged: ”SomoluDigitalActivationInitiative” aimed at digitally empowering students, senior citizens, and small-scale businesses among others in the Area.
Initiator of the training and Special Adviser on ICT to the Executive Chairman, Somolu Local Government, Kola Muhammed highlighted the key programme features of the training to include; Digital Literacy Class, Free Simple Website Hosting Class, Free Tools to navigate dynamic digital spaces and promote business enterprises.
Muhammed said: “Participants continued to learn and grow, and we’re seeing the impact already! More people got digitally activated, and their laptops were fixed. We are empowering our community, one byte at a time! Thanks to our dedicated team, sponsors, and partners for making this possible.”

He continued, “Somolu Digital Activation initiative is an idea looked upon to continue the ICT Skill Upliftment started by the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu ‘Dullar’ not only the youths this time but others who want to be digitally activated to make the process of ones business go viral and earn profitably”.
One of the participants, George Rita Oluwatosin, who is an entrepreneur described the initiative as a thrilling experience that will further allow her explore the digital space and contribute her quota to the development of the society.
“I’m thrilled with the skills and digital tools I’ve gained. My HP Laptop is now fixed, I’ve learned how to create a website, create a logo, and even create a short video to promote my business. It will be instrumental in my future endeavours. Thanks to the organizer of Somolu Digital Activation Initiative!”
Also speaking, another participant, Mr. Abdullahi Babatunde, who is a digital content creator noted that the training has further exposed him to digital skills that’ll enable him promote his business and also transfer such knowledge to others who might need it.
He went further, “The digital tools and skills acquired are unparalleled. It has exposed me and other participants to digital skills needed to promote my business. I’m grateful for this opportunity and look forward to applying my newfound knowledge.”
Blacktalker reports that participants from diverse locations such as Badagry, ìyànà-Iba, Mushin, and Somolu, demonstrated the programme’s reach and appeal among Lagosians.
The three-day training was organised in partnership with Tech Shepherd Limited, A-Lab Technologies, with support from Engr. Adebayo Saheed, Engr. Arije AbdulAzeez among other stakeholders.
