The Lagos State Government has announced the delivery of 11 fire stations under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency response and public safety across the state.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday by Maria Fadairo, Senior Public Affairs Officer of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, during the commissioning of a new fire station and other infrastructure projects between April 8 and 9, 2026.
The projects were inaugurated on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, as part of the state’s broader infrastructure development drive.
Among the key projects is the Tolu School Complex located in Olodi Apapa, Ajegunle, within Ajeromi-Ifelodun. The complex comprises 36 schools, a modern fire station, and a stadium featuring 19 mini football pitches.
According to the statement, the inclusion of a fire station within the educational complex reflects the government’s proactive approach to safeguarding lives and property while promoting community development.
Also inaugurated is a multi-agency complex named after Tinubu, aimed at enhancing coordination among public service and emergency response institutions in Lagos.
Speaking at the event, the Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Adeseye Margaret Abimbola, said the newly commissioned Tolu Fire Station has increased the number of fire stations in the state to 25.
“The Tolu Fire Station brings the total number of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service stations to 25, making it the eleventh to be delivered under the Sanwo-Olu administration,” she said.
Adeseye noted that the figure does not include three stations currently at various stages of completion, with two more expected before the end of the year.
She noted that the expansion would significantly enhance emergency response coverage, particularly in densely populated communities across the state.
The government said the initiative underscores its commitment to building a safer, more resilient, and inclusive Lagos for residents.
