Promasidor Deepens Local Dairy Investment, Targets Jobs, Affordable Nutrition

Investment in local dairy production, employment and affordable nutrition is becoming a key part of Promasidor Nigeria’s contribution to Nigeria’s food and economic development as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

The company said its investment in the Ikun Dairy Farm is supporting domestic milk production and strengthening the local dairy value chain, while creating employment and economic opportunities in surrounding communities.

The farm currently hosts more than 650 high-yielding cattle, provides direct employment to over 200 people and supports more than 1,000 indirect jobs, according to the company.

Promasidor said the investment is intended to strengthen local capacity across the dairy value chain while stimulating economic activity in host communities.

Speaking on Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, François Gillet, said sustainable investment and inclusive business practices remained central to its contribution to national development.

“As Nigeria celebrates 66 years of independence, we are reminded that nation-building is a shared responsibility. At Promasidor, we remain committed to investing in Nigeria, creating opportunities, strengthening local value chains and making quality nutrition more accessible to consumers,” Gillet said.

The company’s involvement in affordable nutrition dates back to March 1993, when it introduced Cowbell Milk in sachet format, which it said helped make milk more accessible to a wider segment of consumers.

Since then, Promasidor has expanded its food and beverage portfolio to include Cowbell, Loya, Miksi, Toptea, Onga, Twisco and Kremela, while continuing to invest in product development and quality.

Gillet said the company’s investments were focused on creating value across the production chain, from local sourcing and employment to the final consumer.

“Our investments are designed to create value across the entire chain, from local production and employment to the consumer. By strengthening the dairy value chain, creating jobs and providing affordable nutritional products, we are contributing to a stronger and more resilient Nigerian economy,” he said.

Promasidor also cited recent industry recognition, including its emergence as Outstanding Dairy Company of the Year, while Cowbell was named Dairy Brand of the Year.

The company also received a Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the Advertisers Association of Nigeria Awards for Marketing Excellence for its community-focused initiatives.

Promasidor said it would continue to focus on local production, employment, community development and access to affordable nutrition as part of its contribution to Nigeria’s economic and social development.
