Police Arrest Suspect, Recover Locally Made Pistol During Patrol in Mushin

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected criminal and recovered a locally made pistol during a routine stop-and-search operation in Mushin area of the State.

The suspect, identified as Dare Shogaolu, 30, also known as “Super M,” was apprehended on March 5, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m. by operatives of the Anti-Crime Patrol Team from the Mushin Division.

Police said the patrol team, led by the Divisional Police Officer, intercepted the suspect along the LUTH Road axis of Mushin after observing his suspicious behaviour while carrying a white and orange-yellow polythene bag.

A search conducted on the bag led to the recovery of a locally made pistol. Other items reportedly found in his possession included a black leather purse, charms and three pairs of slippers.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspect is believed to have been involved in criminal activities within the area and had allegedly been responsible for disturbances in the community.

The suspect is currently in police custody while investigations continue, with efforts ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected criminal group.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Olohundare Jimoh, reiterated the command’s commitment to proactive policing and ensuring the safety of residents.

He also urged members of the public to support the police with credible and timely information through the command’s emergency lines.
