The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS has been ranked among Nigeria’s top-performing government agencies in trade facilitation following its strong performance in the 2025 Business Facilitation Act, BFA Compliance Assessment conducted by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, PEBEC.
The assessment, released on July 3, 2026, recognised the NCS for meeting all prescribed compliance standards while recording significant improvements in the speed and efficiency of its trade-related services.
PEBEC Director-General, Zahrah Audu, said the Nigeria Customs Service distinguished itself by fully complying with the requirements of the Business Facilitation Act and enhancing the timeliness and responsiveness of its services.
“The Nigeria Customs Service stood out by meeting all the required standards while recording notable improvements in the timeliness and efficiency of its response to trade-related matters,” she said, adding that the performance reflects a more transparent and business-friendly trading environment.
Audu attributed the achievement to the Service’s sustained commitment to operational efficiency and improved stakeholder experience, noting that it aligns with the Federal Government’s Ease of Doing Business agenda.
She also disclosed that 98 per cent of the 69 Ministries, Departments and Agencies assessed under the Business Facilitation Act are now meeting the expected service delivery standards, describing the outcome as evidence of the positive impact of ongoing public sector reforms.
The recognition follows a series of reforms introduced by the Nigeria Customs Service to modernise customs administration, including the B’Odogwu Unified Customs Management System, the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme and the Advance Ruling System.
According to the Service, the initiatives have simplified import and export procedures, reduced cargo clearance delays and improved transparency in customs operations.
