Ogun Police Releases N37.9m to Families of Fallen Officers

Families of deceased police officers in Ogun State have received ₦37.9 million in financial support under the Nigeria Police Force Group Life Assurance Scheme.

The scheme is designed to provide financial assistance to the families and next of kin of officers who lost their lives in the course of service.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, presented cheques totalling ₦37,913,081.77 to the beneficiaries at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The presentation was conducted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Oliver Ezirim, alongside members of the Command Management Team.

The event began with a one minute silence in honour of the deceased officers.

Ezirim reaffirmed the IGP’s commitment to police welfare, saying the financial support could not replace the lives lost but reflected the Nigeria Police Force’s recognition of the officers’ sacrifices and responsibility towards their families.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs John Shito appreciated the IGP and Ogun State Command for the intervention, assuring that the funds would be judiciously used for the welfare and sustenance of the families.

The Command said the families of the deceased officers remained part of the police family and that their sacrifices would continue to be honoured.
