Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested four suspected cultists in Ilaro over alleged involvement in assault, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms.
The suspects, Samson John, 25; Olufowora Michael, 28; Odeh Samuel Ejeh, 25; and Olajide Jeremiah, 28, were apprehended by officers attached to the Ilaro Division following a complaint lodged at the station.
According to the police, the incident was reported on April 16, 2026, at about 11:30 p.m., with the complainant alleging that earlier that day, around 1:00 p.m., one of the suspects, alongside six others still at large, invaded his residence, assaulted him, threatened him with an axe, and robbed him of his iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Police operatives were said to have acted swiftly on the report, leading to the arrest of the four suspects. Items recovered from them include a locally made pistol, an axe, suspected charms, and the stolen phone.
The suspects are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism.
He reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for cultism and violent crimes, assuring residents that criminal elements would be decisively dealt with.
The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its emergency lines, including the Gateway Shield toll-free number.
