Winner of the inaugural edition of MasterChef Nigeria, Favour Epiphany Bessan, popularly known as Favy, has officially received her ₦73 million grand prize following her historic victory in the country’s first-ever season of the global cooking competition.
The official cheque presentation ceremony was held at the Primedia Nigeria office in Lagos, where the 26-year-old culinary star was presented with the winner’s cheque after emerging victorious at the end of the 13-week competition.
Speaking at the event, officials of Primedia Nigeria congratulated Bessan on her remarkable achievement, describing her victory as a defining moment for the Nigerian culinary industry and the MasterChef Nigeria franchise.
The ceremony was attended by the Showrunner of MasterChef Nigeria, Niyi Oyedeji, the Country Manager of Primedia Nigeria Ltd., franchise licensee of the global cooking show format, Isaac Ikhide, and other members of the production team.
Bessan made history as the first-ever winner of MasterChef Nigeria after defeating fellow finalist Fads in the competition’s grand finale. Her performance throughout the season earned widespread praise from judges and viewers for its creativity, consistency and technical excellence.
Her victory capped a memorable journey that saw her become the first contestant to win the MasterChef Nigeria Immunity Pin before ultimately claiming the coveted trophy and the ₦73 million cash prize.
The inaugural season of MasterChef Nigeria showcased the culinary talents of home cooks from across the country, celebrating Nigerian cuisine while providing a platform for aspiring chefs to demonstrate their skills on the national stage.
Organisers said the success of the first season has laid the foundation for what is expected to become one of Nigeria’s leading culinary competitions, with Bessan’s victory marking the beginning of a new chapter in her culinary career.
