Maritime Journalists Felicitate CGC Adeniyi on Birthday

The Network of Nigerian Maritime Journalists, NNMJ, has congratulated the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on the occasion of his birthday, describing his leadership as transformational.

In a statement issued on Monday, January 19, 2026, and signed by the Chairman of the Network, Elder Dele Aderibigbe, the group said the Customs boss deserved the accolades for providing clear direction when the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, needed strong leadership.

According to Aderibigbe, CGC Adeniyi has successfully repositioned the Service, moving it from a challenging period to an enviable status within the World Customs Organisation, WCO, where Nigeria’s image has been significantly enhanced under his chairmanship.

The NNMJ Chairman described Adeniyi as a workaholic who has driven far-reaching reforms within the NCS, particularly highlighting the B’odogwu indigenous intervention, which he said has boosted revenue generation for the Federal Government.

Quoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Aderibigbe noted that the CGC’s leadership has also contributed to improved community relations, consistent surpassing of revenue targets, stronger trade partnerships with countries and multilateral institutions, as well as enhanced security across Nigeria’s borders.

He added that these achievements underscore the importance of reform-oriented leadership in strengthening economic resilience and safeguarding national borders.

The Network prayed that God would grant the Comptroller-General continued strength, wisdom and good health as he pilots the affairs of the Nigeria Customs Service.
